Meet Maria Tettamanti, a Miami-based journalist that writes for The Miami Herald, Miami.com, The Huffington Post, Saks Fifth Avenue and many more sources. However, you may know her best as The Wordy Girl. Maria shared a few words with Lynnette Joselly from Eména Spa to discuss the latest beauty trends, check out the full interview below.

eména spa: Why did you initially start a blog?
Maria: I’ve always been a fashion and beauty writer by profession, but there were always stories I wanted to tell that weren’t assigned to me. Thus the blog! Plus, the blog is my way to say we Miami girls have great style — contrary to popular belief. Take that, haters!

eména spa: Is there a story behind your blog’s title? If so, please share.
Maria: You better believe it. My college crony called me “The Wordy Girl” for my snarky one-liners and constant play on words.

eména epa: What do you do when you are not blogging?
Maria: Aside from writing my 235 freelance assignments, you can find me with my two children, Ava and Yiani, cyberstalking people on Facebook and Instagram, obsessing over my next purchase or shopping at Target. Probably at Target.

eména spa: What are some beauty products in your makeup bag that you cannot life without?
Maria: Aquaphor cures everything — from chapped lips to dry cuticles to diaper rash. I also cannot live without my light-up lipglosses from Beauty For real. And I have a weird obsession with roll-on perfumes. And Unite 7 Seconds Dry Shampoo.

eména spa: Please share one hair or beauty tip with us.
MariaL Some people go to therapy, I go to what I have coined, “hair-apy.” I get weekly professional blowouts which never fail to instantaneously improve my mood. I also swear by Kerastase and Oribe hair products. They cost a small fortune but work wonders on my Greek, unruly hair!

eména spa: What’s your daily makeup routine?
Maria: Now that it’s wintertime, I’m back on the six-step Obagi regiment to erase wrinkles, sun spots and to even out my skin tone. As for makeup, I’m a minimalist — I use a Bobbi Brown tinted moisturizer and Rosebud Salve in my lips for some shine.

eména spa: What are some beauty/fashion trends we should look out for?
Maria: Eyelash extensions are the easiest way to look bright eyed and bushy tailed. And I’m all about a root-y hair color look — a modified ombré, if you will.
